Sneak Peek: New Gigee Marie Collection

I mentioned in this post how I've been working with a manufacturer to produce my clutches going forward, and in my last post, I gave you a look into my trip to select fabrics. Now, I want to give you guys a sneak peek of one of the samples from the new collection. It's been a long process but I really enjoy seeing my design that started out on paper, actually come to life into a real product. I'm looking to have 3 different styles in the collection, of course staying true to the Gigee Marie signature foldover clutch. I've been listening to your feedback (thank you!) and one of the biggest things I get asked is whether or not my clutches have a detachable strap. Well, now they will :-)

There are also some additional details on the inside that I think you'll appreciate as well (I can't show you EVERYTHING! lol).  I really want Gigee Marie clutches to be versatile and practical, but still stylish and high-quality. There are still some tweaks that need to be made in terms of detail, but overall, I am extremely pleased at how the samples came out. The date for when this collection will launch is still TBD, but I can't wait to share more pictures and the additional colors with you guys.

Leather Heaven

My absolute favorite part of designing clutches is sourcing the fabric; but you have to be mentally prepared to go fabric shopping. There are so many choices and if you don't know what you're looking for, you can easily become overwhelmed. I always have an idea for the colors that I want to feature in an upcoming collection, but it's also fun when you get to the store and are inspired by other colors/patterns that you may not have thought of.

For my new collection, I am really looking for quality, buttery soft, lightweight leathers. I was definitely in leather heaven. Although I was told that I wasn't allowed to take pictures, I managed to snap a few on the sneak lol. As far as the colors that I chose, you'll just have to wait and see :-)

Gigee Marie Muses: Precious Gems

With emerald being Pantone's color of 2013, I decided to center my Spring 2013 collection around jewel tones. A lot of times, jewel tones are seen in Fall collections, but I think that jewel tones are just as appropriate for Spring. They allow you to ease out of winter earthtones and prepare for colorful, bold Spring palettes. We recently saw Teyonah Parris and Mila Kunis rock bold amethyst and emerald gowns at the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes, and Eva Longoria werrrrrked this gold dress at the 2012 Alma Awards last September.

If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen me post a picture of the fabrics that I selected for this collection. Here, you can get a glimpse of a few of the pieces, and how those fabrics came to life :-)

Make sure you visit gigeemarie.com on Monday, February 4 so that you can shop the Spring clutch collection (and our new jewelry!)

New Promo Photos

I'm lucky enough to have my own live-in videographer/photographer. My talented boyfriend who owns The MediaXperience Film House is the one responsible for all of my product photography and promo videos (check out his website and follow him on twitter @theMDXP. And yes, you will see me drop his name and his company several times on this blog...love you boo! lol). We did a mini photo shoot a couple weeks ago for a few of my pieces because I wanted to get some shots of my bags against actual outfits. I think I prefer this look for my website photos as opposed to the product by itself on a white background, so I think I'll soon be updating all of my photos in that way. Check out the pics below.
